Kelsie Grazier is a Canadian visual artist whose practice engages with painting, drawing and installation art. Through her work, she communicates the complexities of Deaf identity and cultural histories. With layers of gestural paintings and light reflections, Kelsie is addressing themes of longing, disconnection and belonging. The work comes from a desire to understand the contrast of the isolation and beauty in deafness — to convey the disconnect, intuitive gestures span across the large surface to take up space, both literally and metaphorically.
Kelsie completed an artist residency with Arts Assembly and Access Gallery (2021). She was selected as one of Vancouver’s Artists to Watch through The Beaumont (2022). Recently, she had a solo exhibition, Unstoried Self, with the Vernon Public Art Gallery (2023).
Kelsie holds a degree in Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art and Design and a Masters in Deaf Education from the University of British Columbia. She works out of her studio in Vancouver, BC.
